My new project.

Hi everyone, the weather here in Georgia has been anything but pleasant.  It feels and looks more like winter than spring.  So....I light my candles turn all the house lights on, and yes the furnace back on, and pretend it's spring. haha     Well, my new adventure for the week will be.... updating a cabinet I have in the foyer, I will post a before and after pic. It is currently brown with palm trees ( yes, you  read that right, palm trees), on the front of the doors.  Plans are to, spray primer on, then spray it black AND then, decoupage sheet music scrapbook paper over the palm trees.  I hope this turns out something I can be proud of, if not no one has to know it was me that destroyed the cabinet.  Not that anything could look worse in my house than palm trees, seeing just about everything else is Tuscan or French country. Well I will go for now, I will post pictures soon on the experiment of the cabinet.
Have a lovely day,
Regina
p.s.  I am following several blogs and it is not showing up on my blog that I am following anyone, can someone please tell me what to do?

Welcome to the launch of The Queenly Abode

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by my first blog ever. I started this blog so that I could share some of my ideas and talents with all of you. I have enjoyed being a "Domestic Engineer" for the past 26 years. I now feel it is time to change career paths and go into my lifelong passion of being an Interior Decorator. Before we get into showing some of my design ideas however, let me introduce you to my family.

This is little ole me sporting my new hat that I bought for myself on Christmas.
This is my son Caleb, last summer while on vacation in Toronto Canada. He is in his third year of college and is studying to be a molecular-biologist. He is also an awesome keyboardist. More on that later.
This is Caleb backstage at one of his bands concerts being goofy in front of the camera.

This is my husband Darryl, the love of my life for 26 years now and I at Christmas 2010.

Everybody say cheese!

This is the true king of the house. Our other son Toby, before the grooming began.

This is the aftermath effects of such grooming.

This is the other Queen of the house, Gracie before grooming.

Post grooming and sulking a bit I might add. She doesn't like the groomers very much.

And last but not least, this is our cat Lyric who thinks that we are just short term renters in the house that he lives in.

Now that we have been formerly introduced, let me show you some pictures of our home sweet home.

These were taken right after we had it painted and new shutters installed.

We planted these while my husband was in Toronto working last year. What a wonderful surprise it was for him to come home too after being stuck in Canada for the entire winter.

Here are some of the things I am into right now.

Tassels:

These are my first tassels. They were so much fun to make.

These are my chefs in the kitchen. They help me make ingredient decisions.
This is our shelf that sits above our kitchen desk with my collection of grape plates.
Decoration on top of our Bombay chest. Simple items that make a bold statement.
This arrangement is above our TV armoire in the family room. The picture to the right is one that I got from my grandmother. I have no idea how old it is, but I love and cherish it.
My first frame that I decorated, I really enjoyed this, it's so easy. I used scrapbook paper for the background and hot glued the letter onto the glass to produce a 3D effect. The frame was a gift on our 25th wedding anniversary.

This is our coffee table.
This is our new chair we purchased recently. I love the fabric. I made the round pillow from a foam pillow form that I got from Hobby Lobby and upholstery fabric that was leftover from another project.

The buffet in the dining room, oops you can see my bread machine.
That's better. This is a good view of our Tuscan themed wall mural.

Gotta go for now. Hope you enjoyed our first time together here. Next time I will showcase some of the other arts and craft projects I have worked on including my decorative wine bottle creations.
